The Adventure Fleet

Experience the icy waters in their most serene and tranquil state. If you have experience in paddling and are up for some nautical adventure, then be sure to reserve your spot at the time of booking your voyage. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Kayaking is an option on all of our Arctic and Antarctic departures onboard both the Akademik Ioffe and the Akademik Sergey Vavilov. We will take up to 10 paddlers per voyage on the Akademik Sergey Vavilov, and 16 paddlers on the Akademik Ioffe.

The kayaks, paddles, lifejackets, and drysuits are included, as are the services of a qualified kayak guide. The cost of this optional activity is in addition to the voyage far.

Overnight Kayaking

Sea kayaking is a spectacular way to experience Antarctica. Far away from mechanical sounds, sea kayakers paddle peacefully to parts of the continent rarely seen by other visitors and get remarkably close to the amazing wildlife and towering icebergs of this great wilderness.

Following our hugely successful first-ever commercial overnight kayaking expedition last year, there has been great demand for more. For three departures only, we are offering paddlers the chance to take sea kayaking one step further on a special overnight expedition.

We’ll leave the Akademik Ioffe behind as our guide takes us into some of the most remote and beautiful parts of Antarctica. Using the very best camping equipment, we’ll spend two nights on shore where we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner, freshly cooked by our guides whilst watching huge icebergs float by.

The Antarctic weather and ice conditions can be changeable so the exact route as well as the duration of the expedition will be dictated by the conditions of the day and the opinions of your experienced guides. Group sizes on these expeditions are limited to only 6 paddlers.
