The Adventurer was built in 1975 as the Alla Tarasova in the former Yugoslavia and underwent a $13million conversion in 1998 in Scandinavia. She is a superb expedition vessel, reminiscent of the days of the great ocean liners, with lots of varnished wood and brass.
Equipped with state-of-the-art sonar, stabilizers and classified A-1 ice-class, she navigates the Arctic and Antarctic waters with ease, as well as sailing in Europe, South America and North Africa on an exciting range of itineraries. The Adventurer carries a fleet of inflatable Zodiacs which can be launched at a moment's notice.
All cabins have an outside view, lower beds, private bathrooms, in-room music, individual temperature controls and a 220-volt hairdryer. There is a laundry and pressing service on board and a small gym on the main deck with weights and stationary bicycles for individual use. There is also a gift shop and library with a selection of books and games.
The window-lined dining room serves delicious international cuisine, with meals individually prepared to order using the finest and freshest ingredients possible. The galleys are run by fine executive chefs trained at the most prestigious culinary academies. Whenever possible local specialities will also appear on the menu. As well as a bar in the main lounge, there is also a bar in the more intimate club room, which seats up to 45.
Presentations are held in the lounge which can seat all 122 passengers in one sitting, and has a large screen and projector for slide shows.
